The G8 comes to Auchterarder, Scotland.
This is a diary of the days leading up to the G8 summit, of the 3 days of the summit and of the few days afterwards. It is a personal diary not a record of all the events or of what was decided in Gleneagles Hotel. It is one persons perspective, based on living a mile away.  I took most of the photos and I borrowed a few from newspapers.

Make the Olympics History

Without doubt the G8 was the centre of events for the week. Whether it was the formal summit, the Live8 concerts, the G8 Alternatives events or the Make Poverty History campaign, the G8 was the thing going on.  The bombing in London was timed to coincide with the world's press being in the UK. The wearing of white wrist bands became the newest fashion.  It was an unfortuante clash of events that the venue for the 2012 olympics was announced on the opening day of the G8, the day of the march to Gleneagles, overshadowing other events in the news.  Some of us found that very unfortunate. A £10 billion set of games making more impression than the Make Poverty History campaign has an irony that won't have escaped many.

You will find the diary on the following pages.  On some pages there are links to galleries of photos which should open in new windows.  If you enjoy the dairy or find it irritating or inaccurate by all means email me. The email address is at the top of each page. Thanks for looking.
